The Face

A prominent feature of the Mosque Clock, the face boasts that great 80s innovation - glow in the dark technology!

The all important yellow hand allows you to determine (roughly) when the famous azan alarm will kick in, while the non-sweeping red hand provides a pleasant background 'tick-tick' noise.

A special hidden light with a totally random auto-dim facility illuminates the face for the full duration of the alarm.

The Loudspeaker

Although not a patch on the huge ones you see attached to mosques in Islamic countries, this innocuous-looking loudspeaker packs some real power.

Craftily tucked away behind a couple of fine arches that are so often found in Islamic architecture, this tiny tweeter is hooked up to a small chip packed with a full, authentic, three-minute azan. Amazing!

If this bit's anywhere near your ear when the alarm goes off, you'll know about it!

The Minarets

Decorated in gleaming gold, the Mosque Clock boasts two of these plastic protrusions, one at each side of the clock face.

Mosques in Muslim countries usually have one or more minarets from which the 'moezzin' calls Muslims to prayer five times a day.

The curved thing you can see is a representation of a crescent moon, which is frequently seen atop real minarets. The crescent moon, along with a star, is a common symbol of Islam. Watch out though, they're pretty sharp!
